Ghanaians in the UAE capital city Abu Dhabi have elected new executives to run their organization known as GHANA SOCIAL CLUB OF ABU DHABI (GHASCAD). The new Executives comprised:
• President: Madam Maha Mekkaoui – Career Nurse at Khalifa Hospital
• Vice President – George Adu-Adjei of BMW
• Sec General : Henry Kesson, an OSH Practitioner with Al Ghazal Transport
• Ben Opoku Agyeman Senior Tech. Analyst of Dubai Petroleum, re-elected as Financial Secretary
• Michael Amonoo – Physical Instructor, Min of Interior as Treasurer
• Organizer is Michael Amonoo, of Emirates Motors
• Welfare and Social Secretary is Ebenezer Koomson, a Barber Shop Proprietor
• Assistant Organizer Tijani Iddrisu, Safety Officer at Al Saahra Transport and
• Assistant Sec General Noor Salifu, Directional Driller at Halliburton.
They were sworn into a two-year term of office at the plush Millennium Hotel, Abu Dhabi by the Minister-Counselor of the Ghana Consulate Dubai, the Hon. Mr. Tony Kutteng who was assisted by the Consular Officer Mr. Hussain Amandi.
In her inaugural speech, President Madam Maha described the day a unique day in the history of GHASCAD, looking back and considering the efforts they put in to overcome all the challenges to make it a reality. President Madam Maha was proud of GHASCAD comrades and also said a big “Ayekoo” to Electoral Commissioner Prof. Nii Sai, for accepting that role. She paid glowing tribute to the past Leaders for a job “well-done” for the relentless efforts and teamwork.
President Madam Maha acknowledged the arduous task of leading expatriate Ghanaians and promised to work hard to achieve the mission and vision of GHASCAD, and to do her best to bring together all Ghanaians living within the jurisdiction of GHASCAD, to work with all and sundry, ensuring that the contribution of every one counted.
She reminded all Ghanaians living in the Emirate of the responsibility of all to build GHASCAD to the level that will make it a lovely organization of success in grand style.
President Madam Maha pledged, during her tenure, that there would be special privileges for membership and urged other Ghanaians to ensure that they became registered and together as one body, work closely with the Ghana Consulate to promote the registration of Ghanaians in the UAE as well as partnering sister Ghana Organization, GhaCom, to ensure the welfare of Ghanaians in the various parts of the United Arab Emirates.
She thanked the Ghana Consulate for the huge support they enjoyed from the Consulate so far and hoped that the Consulate would continue to give them more support in their goal for greater successes.
President Madam Maha thanked the Council of Patrons for their unstinting support, guidance and various forms of contributions.

Dr. Kofi Agyeman of the Petroleum Institute;
Dr. Charles Ahene, Cardio Specialist at Zayed Hospital,

Hajia Zainab – aka Mama Ghana.
In his solidarity message, the Consul-General of Ghana Alhaji Abudulai Yakubu took the opportunity to congratulate the newly elected executives of Ghascad.
He urged the new Executives to continue the good work of their predecessors by keeping the association as dynamic and vibrant as ever.
