Ghanaians in Boston, MA, through their organization, the Ghana Association of Greater Boston have spearheaded a laudable effort by donating furniture worth $4,000 to the new Eastern Regional Library at Koforidua on Saturday July 25, 2009. The funds for the furniture that includes notice boards, book cases and shelves, chairs and reading tables to be used in new library, were raised through the active collaboration of the Ghana Association of Greater Boston and the New Juaben Association of New England based in Worcester, MA. The fund raising drive was led by Mrs. Naana Panford who seized the initiative within the Ghana Association of Greater Boston that has added to its agenda and activities plans to assist in the social and economic development of regions in Ghana. Under its leadership, the Ghana Association of Boston has resolved to select and assist identified development projects in Ghana each to allow Ghanaians in Boston to give back and thus contribute to the material well being of Ghanaians in Ghana.

Mrs. Panford and members of the Koforidua Library Fund Raising Committee were assisted by the leadership of the Ghana Association of Boston and the members of the Association, friends of Ghana in Boston to host on August 25, 2008 a Fund Raising Dinner/Dance with the theme: " Let's Give Back to Our Community Back Home in Ghana" Her main motivation for organizing the fund raising event was that she felt compelled to assist the New Juaben Municipal Assembly, the Government of Ghana and the National Library Board to move into the newly-completed splendid Regional Library Building near the "Ministries" in Koforidua. Ms. Panford wishes to commend the Ghana Association of Boston, the New Juaben Association of New England and the Library Fund Raising Committee for adopting the library furniture project and for their overwhelming enthusiasm which made it possible to raise funds for such a worthy cause. The Members of the Koforidua Library Fund Raising Committee are: Mr. & Mrs. Aba and Kofi Amoah, Mr. & Mrs. Dorris and Kofi Taylor, Mr. & Mrs. Thelda & Joseph Eiwuley and Dr. & Mrs. Naana & Kwamena Panford.
