.....to Rehabilitate their Ailing Mother in Toronto back from Ghana

Stephanie Boachie-Yiadom on behalf of the Boachie-Yiadom sisters in Toronto has expressed their profound gratitude to all Ghanaians in Canada who spiritually and financially assisted them to bring their ailing mother, Barbara, 53, who was stranded in Ghana back to Toronto. She made mention of their gratitude during a formal presentation of donation raised by Ghanaians living in the Greater Toronto Area to support their efforts to rehabilitate their mother in Canada from Ghana on Sunday, December 20, 2015. The presentation took place at the premises of the Canadian Multicultural Radio (CMR 101.3 FM) in Toronto. An amount of $3,200.00 was handed over to the Boachie-Yiadom sisters by Mr Nyame of the New Era Grocery Store on behalf of the fundraising committee. It was disclosed that an additional amount of over $8,000.00 had been already contributed by Ghanaians in Canada (including Ghanaian Churches in Toronto) to the fundraising on the website set up for that purpose. Others present at the presentation included Stacey Boachie-Yiadom, Sister Yaa Akoto, Elder Appiah Kubi, Sophie Nsiah Yeboah and Kwaku Asante Adjekumhene.

It could be recalled that Ghanaians living in Canada willingly took up the challenge to financially and spiritually assist the 3 Boachie-Yiadom sisters, Stacey, 22, Drucilla, 20, and Stephanie, 24, to bring their mother from Ghana to Canada for rehabilitation when the news about the plight of an elderly Ghanaian Canadian mother, Barbara Boachie-Yiadom, 53, became a headline in Ghana and, was quickly picked up by the Toronto Star as well as the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) TV which followed it with an interview of the 3 daughters of Barbara living in Toronto in November, 2015. This noble cause immediately championed by the Sankofa Radio on Canadian Multicultural Radio (CRM 101.3 FM) in Toronto. The powerful voices on that radio, Elder Appiah Kubi and Kwaku Adjekumhene, consistantly promoted this cause and urged Ghanaians in Canada and elsewhere to send in their generous contributions. The response was overwhelming. The target of $4,000.00 has been exceeded by over 100%! Thanks to Sophia Aboagye who has sustained the Sankofa Radio till now since the death of her husband, Nana Agyeman who founded the radio station to serve the Ghanaian community in Toronto.

The good news is that Barbara Boachie-Yiadom is now in Toronto and receiving care at the most ultra-modern Regional Hospital in North America recently built in Toronto. Our prayers and support are still needed for her total recovery. To God be the glory!
