Ghanaians in Stuttgart mourn Mills

On Saturday, 11th August 2012, the Ghana Union Stuttgart e.V. in collaboration with the Stuttgart Branch of the ruling Party National Democratic Congress- NDC and Ghanaians in and around Stuttgart city of Germany as well as representatives of various ethnic union, churches, the Islamic community and a delegation of the NPP Stuttgart-BW thronged to the Buegerhaus-West in red and Black bereaved apparels to signed the condolence book and express their sympathy to the late President John Evan Atta Mills.

The President of Ghana Union Stuttgart e.v., Mr Alexander Okai Anane welcomed the participants, introduced the invited guests and expressed his appreciation to all for their divers support towards the organization of the funeral.

From 18:00 to 19:45 CET short films on the political life and selected speeches of the late President Mills was shown to the Ghanaian Community. At 8:00 PM prompt a solemn silence was observed by all present after which the Ghana National Anthem was sung. The President of the Ghana Union Stuttgart e.V., Mr Alexander Okai Anane, read the biography of the late Prez Atta Mills.

Mr Daniel Dake, the President of the Association of all Ghanaian Institutions in Germany- UGAG who is also the Chairman of NDC Stuttgart Branch and Mr Bernhard Benson- alias Efo Richard- , Vice Chairman of NDC Stuttgart Branch read out their tributes to the late Prez Atta Mills. The leader of the delegation of NPP Stuttgart-BW, Mr Agyemang Badu also presented a short tribute to the late Prez Atta Mills.

A framed portrait photograph of the late Prof. Mills' was displayed and a condolence book made available for all participants to enter their tributes or condolence messages. The condolence book will be forwarded to the Ghana Ambassador to Germany for onward forwarding to the responsible authorities or the family in Ghana. (Embedded image moved to file: pic05108.jpg)

Pastor J.B. Obeng of the Christ Mission Center – CMC held the requiem service with a very touching sermon in commemoration of the late Prez Mills. He advised all Ghanaians to endeavor to wear the mantel of peace and crave for unity amongst us both in the Diaspora and back home in Ghana. We should learn to emulate the qualities of our late President, which earned him the title “Asomdwee Hene” or Father of Peace, he stressed. The renowned Pastor consoled the Ghanaian Community that considering the positive effects experienced by all as a result of the death of our late President, he is very confident that his efforts and death will not be in vain because apart from Jesus Christ there has never been any occasion where one’s death could unify all spirits and people of a nation irrespective of their ideological, tribal, religious, ethnic or political affiliations.

Mr. Alexander Okai Anane, appealed to all Ghanaian Churches to dedicate their church service of Sunday, 12th August 2012 to honour the late Prez Atta Mills.

On Sunday, 12th August 2012 an official thanks giving and memorial service was held at the Christ Mission Center in Stuttgart-Fasannenhof to seal the funeral and mourning celebration of our beloved late President Atta Mills.

May his soul rest in perfect peace.
