Alexandria Virginia --

Ngozi in collaboration with Friends of Baba cordially invite you to join us as we launch Friends of Baba Fundraiser event on December 6, 2014.

Mr. Abdul Samad popularly known as "BABA -The Grill Master residing in the Washington DC Metro area was recently diagnosed with Stage 5 kidney disease. A person with stage 5 chronic kidney disease (CKD) has end stage renal disease (ESRD). At this advanced stage of kidney disease, the kidneys have lost nearly all their ability to do their job effectively, and eventually dialysis or a kidney transplant is needed to live.

Baba is currently surviving on DIALYSIS and looking for a DONOR for a Kidney Transplant. He currently has no health insurance and until he gets a kidney replacement, he will not be able to come back to the active work force. He is in good spirit and is very determined to fight the disease, however all the alternatives on the table require money, and he needs financial assistance in order to sustain his treatment and also to get to the transplant list.

In view of this, Ngozi Organization has teamed up with Friends of Baba, Volunteers and African local businesses and Churches to put together a fundraiser event to raise money to meet his mounting medical bills. The event is also aimed to bring awareness of the health issues affecting the African communities in Washington DC Metro Area.

The event will take semi-formal format with different resource persons in the medical field and public health experts such as Dr. Anthony Prah; Pediatric Hospitalist, Dr. Abdul Rahman; Addy Assani Dietician and Ms. Margaret Korto, Senior Program Analyst at Office of Minority Health Resource Center. Other side event activities will include silence auction with artifacts, painting, Baba’s kebab recipes, Christmas wreaths, music and dancing and varieties of social and fundraising activities.
