Gonjalanders in North America elects Paramount Chief and Queenmother

Gonjaland Chief Dargowura Bin Iddi II and Madam Dora Zenabu Abu Tampuri

Dargowura Bin Iddi (II) of the Wasipe Traditional Area and Madam Dora Zenabu Abu Tampuri have been nominated as the Paramount Chief and Queenmother of Gonjalanders in North America, respectively.

The nominations were announced during the monthly meeting of Gonjalanders in North America (GANA) on Monday, 4th November 2024.

The enskinment and coronation of the new Paramount Chief and Queenmother are set to take place early next year, with the King and Overlord of Gonja, Yagbonwura Bii-Kunuto Jewu Soale (I), expected to travel to the United States to officiate the ceremonies.

The Newly Elected Paramount Chief:

Dargowura Bin Iddi II, the newly nominated Paramount Chief of Gonjalanders in North America, is known in private life as Issahaku Bin Iddrisu. Currently, he serves as the Chief of Northern Ghanaians in Georgia. He hails from the Takora Gate of the Wasipe Traditional Area in the North Gonja District and resides in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. He is married to Mary Zakaria Bin, and they have five children, four grandsons, and a granddaughter.

The Newly Elected Queenmother:

Madam Dora Zenabu Abu Tampuri, the newly nominated Queenmother of Gonjalanders in North America, resides in Connecticut, USA. She is from the Kalbawura Tampuri family of Bole, which belongs to the Safope Gate in Bole. She is a mother of three children and has four grandchildren.
