The Ghana High Commissioner has expressed grave concerned over the sort of services quack pastors are providing for Ghanaians in the UK. Last Monday, a meeting was held at the Ghana Embassy with senior Ghanaian ministers of many recognised denominations to discuss how to combat the rise of dubious preachers in the UK.
The High Commissioner is concerned that every Sunday between 6am - 12pm various preachers use Hot FM, WBLS, Afrique Radio, GFM and others to meet the spiritual needs of Ghanaians.
What appears to be missing in most of the messages heard on the radio stations is purely fake.
Some of these quack pastors (the Embassy named some few) have turned themselves into immigration pastors. According to an eye witness who has been robbed, she gave large sum of money to a particular pastor who claimed he could help her regularised her immigration status. Her immigration status remains irregularised and the pastor refuses to give money back.
The High Commission produced records of many Ghanaians who have been dubed by these quack pastors. At the meeting it became clear that these Ghanaians pastors are bringing the name of Ghana into disrepute by taking advantage of the vulnerability and ignorance of many Ghanaians. One way to stop these abuses is for owners of the radio stations to discourage their radio stations been used for acts that will bring the name of Ghana into shame. The High Commission accepts that Ghanaians in London must be responsible to know who is genuine and false.
