Sat, 25 Mar 2006 Source: GNA

Ho, March 25, GNA - The Ho Municipal Area and the city of Jarvenpaa in Finland are exploring the possibility of establishing Sister City ties under the north-south local government co-operation programme. In pursuit of this goal, a four-member delegation from Jarvenpaa paid a four-day visit to the Ho Municipality during which it members interacted with local government workers and some community leaders. Madam Leena Ritala, leader of the Finnish delegation, told a send-off durbar held in their honour that she was impressed by the tourist attractions in the area.
She said exchanges on culture and education from the basic to the professional levels should be the high points in the proposed partnership between the two cities.
Madam Ritala said the world was becoming smaller as a result of the increasing speed of communication and that no culture should avoid cooperation with other cultures for mutual gains.
Mr Mawutor Goh, Ho Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), said cooperation between the two cities could speed up the economic growth of the Ho Municipality, especially in the area of tourism.
