Madam Lydia Seyram Alhassan, Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wuogon, has highlighted some of the initiatives she has helped to implement in the constituency.
The MP claims to have dedicated herself to launching a number of projects in education, health, and transport, among other areas.
She claimed that in addition to working on initiatives for her constituency, she is also making a difference in people’s lives.
“We have been able to facilitate a senior high school project into the constituency. We have seven tertiary institutions in the constituency, but we do not have any secondary schools here. I have been able to facilitate having the biggest, the largest, the nicest, the humongous Accra STEM right here at Shiashie. These are the things that make me proud that I have been able to facilitate for the constituency.
"We have constructed a school at Bawaleshie, smart classrooms, community centres, there is a library there. We have also constructed a new hospital at Mepeasem that would be commissioned on Wednesday, October 30, 2024. That’s where we would also be organising our free breast screening exercise on that same day. Things are happening. The roads in that area were deplorable, and I have managed to have the roads fixed.
"We also constructed astroturfs, schools, and hospitals; we also have an Agenda 111 hospital project at Roman Ridge, Prisons Yard. The Police and Military have hospitals, and through Agenda 111, the Prisons Service will have a hospital. These are things that we facilitate for the constituency. Apart from doing the projects, we are also adding the human touch. So we are impacting lives. That is what encourages me—that by the grace of God I have been able to touch lives.”
The MP and Minister made the remarks in an interview when she joined Rainbow Radio’s free breast screening exercise that was held on Friday, October 25, 2024.
