The Brong Ahafo Calgary Canadian Association (BACCA) of Calgary will be inaugurated on Saturday, August 03, 2013 at the Croatian Canadian Centre (3010 – 12 Street NE) in Calgary, Alberta. The theme for the inauguration is ‘Building Capacity for Change – Education for Leadership’. The keynote Speaker is Dr. Stephen Ameyaw of the Simon Fraser University in British Columbia.
BACCA is a group of Ghanaians whose membership is not only from the Brong Ahafo region but across Ghana who have come together to promote the Ghanaian socio-cultural and economic identity and also help in the development of the region and Ghana. As part of the inauguration, there was a mammoth picnic on Saturday 13th July 2013 at the Rotary Challenger Park in Calgary which was a great success with food, games and fun.
As a prelude to the inauguration, BACCA is organising a community work at the Calgary Drop-In centre on Saturday 27 July 2013. We want to spend some time at the centre doing some voluntary work as our contribution to the community.
Participants from Canada and the United States are attending this historic event and the general public is welcome. Among the planned program during the inauguration is the launching of the Association’s education initiative in collaboration with a renowned College in Canada. This initiative will offer courses for members and non-members alike who want to pursue their education through distance learning and week-end classes. The planning committee therefore invites the general public in and around Calgary to come and celebrate this great day together.
