Inauguration of Evangelical Presbyterian (E.P.) Church, USA

His Excellencies Ambassador Daniel Ohene Agyekum of Ghana and Ambassador Limbire Kadangha Bariki of Togo were the guests of honour at the formal inauguration ceremony of the E.P Church, USA in Bethesda Maryland on September 11th , 2011.

In his congratulatory message, His Excellency Ambassador Agyekum exhorted Christians to love one another and be each other’s keeper. He observed that “Beyond the dogmas and rituals of religion, we must find our own way to God. When we yearn for God it must be out of the purity of our hearts.” Ambassador Agyekum also stressed of the importance of teaching our children and youth in the Diaspora to appreciate our culture and traditions.

Preaching on the theme: Arise; shine, for your light has come, the Moderator of the E.P Church Ghana, the Rt. Rev. Francis Amenu task Christians to forgive one another as Christ forgave us. He congratulated the church for this unique achievement in the United States, coming at a time when the missions in Germany, Ghana and Togo are celebrating the 175th anniversary of the Bremen Mission. Rt. Rev. Amenu entreated the leaders of the church to affiliate with the Presbyterian Church, USA whilst maintaining their links with mother churches in their respective countries.

The inaugural rites were presided over by the Moderators of E.P Church Ghana, Rt. Rev. Amenu, E.P Church Togo, Rt. Rev. Emmanuel Mawuli Awanyoh and the Clerk of General Assembly of Ghana, Rev. Godwin K. Osiakwa. The residence pastor Rev. Mrs. Vivian Balasu-Addo was decorated with a Kente Stoll as part of the inaugural rites.

In attendance also were Rev. Ministers from sister churches in the US, traditional rulers, Togo and Ghana Embassy Officials and a cross section of Ghanaians and Togolese communities in the United States.
