The chilly Minnesota weather could not deter Ghanaian Minnesotans from honoring their motherland, when they turned up in their numbers to attend this year?s 6th March Independence Dinner Dance held in the Twin Cities. For the first time in the association?s history, a newly formed local Ghanaian rap group Tyggy Records entertained the audience to one of their hip life songs ?Kotoka Maba?. The event was not only attended by Ghanaians. African Americans, Whites and other African associations in the Twin Cities showed up to support the association. GhanAM also used the occasion to promote Ghanaian owned businesses in Minnesota; an incentive program that is being launched by the association under the Ghana Minnesota Chamber of Commerce. Awards were given to members who had volunteered their services to the association. See some pictures from the event.
