The Interim Executives of the NDC Amsterdam Branch have expressed disappointment at the comments made by a former Commissioner of the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ), Justice Francis Emile Short, who described the current state of corruption in the countryon the airwaves last weekend (5th October 2013), as “massive” and “systemic” and that “We are not making any progress in the fight against corruption” . Speaking at their monthly meeting, the Interim Chairman of the NDC Amsterdam branch , Mr Dodoo said he was disappointed at the way some public figures go about disseminating their grievances /opinions / and views in opposing Government initiatives and stand on matters that affect us all as a nation.****

The Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice he said, would have upheld its credibility if the former commissioner could have highlighted efforts /initiatives being put into place by the current administration to combat this rather ill-nature of our public figures., of even better tell Ghanaians about what recommendations/proposals the CHRAJ itself can bring to the table for implementation. Corruption at any level of our social fabric as a people should be severely punished by our legal system, so as to deter others from committing them, not only at the governmental level he added , and if people like the former Commissioner would take to the airwaves where he is opportune to educate Ghanaians but fail to do so, then the former commissioner has abused the opportunity by negatively criticizing government, without offering any solution oriented points, leaving us all to conclude that Justice Short must have been “SHORT OF WORDS”.****

Mr. Tamakloe, a member NDC Amsterdam branch also added that, he was indeed gutted at the level at which corruption seemed so acceptable in various sectors of our society including public sector, and mentioned that he was indeed glad to see that combatting it has become the main priority of the Mahama led-administration, and though we can all admit that this would surely make some people unhappy and even uncomfortable, the NDC led government should not compromise its stand against corruption but rather prove to Ghanaians that indeed this is necessary to rid our social-economic growth of this disease. The group, looked at ways to help government improve on the template being created to cure our public sector of this disease. A public service commercial on Radio/TV/Newsmedia should be created to implant the needed awareness and empowerment that would give every Ghanaian the tool to say no to corruption. Mr. Dodoo, called on the various NDC branches in the diaspora to come up with an effective instrument that government can adopt to create a Public Service Unit which would be tasked with ensuring that Ghanaians are well informed about the effects of corruptions and ways to combat it. This he said , would be the first steps in creating a generation of Ghanaians that would cure us of corruption, there are various donor countries ready to partner with the Government of Ghana to arrest this practice.****

Finally , NDC Amsterdam branch commended the initiatives being taken by government (biometric/electronic payments) to weed out Ghost Names in the public sector by also ensuring that better and effective / transparent communication between departments/ministries is created. Its time we all start working for Mother GHANA and stop bleeding it to death.****
