Legendary Ghanaian born Swedish MP, Honourable Joe Frans, Social Democratic MP of Stockholm, Sweden arrived in Ghana today for a weeks long visit.
In a brief comment to newsmen and well wishers at the Kotoka International Airport Mr Frans said, his visit will focus on education, health and trade. ?I am very excited about this visit and hope that it brings my two beloved countries closer together. Certainly, the world is getting closer together and peace loving and democratic countries like Ghana and Sweden need to work together for the good of the human family? he said.
Mr. Frans will visit his alma mater Adisadel College on Friday and make a statement at the Cape Coast Castle in the remembrance of those human rights activists who fought against slavery. Joe Frans is an independent expert of the United Nations Commission on Human Rights working group on people of African descent.
Over the weekend, he will visit his ancestral hometown of Elmina, where he will have talks with Nana Kweku Kondua, Omanhene and President of the Elmina Traditional Council. He is scheduled to visit Parliament where he will meet the Speaker and members of both sides of the house. He will also meet senior Cabinet Ministers and join the nation in celebrating its 47th Independence Day before he leaves for Stockholm.
