A Journalist (name withheld) has tested positive for Coronavirus at Nkawkaw in the Kwahu West Municipal Assembly of Eastern Region.
This was revealed on Agoo FM by the Municipal Health Director Madam Celestine Asante in a panel discussion on how to combat the deadly virus as cases keep rising in the area.
The Kwahu West Municipal Assembly has so far recorded 47 cases with six recoveries, children/babies rages from Six (6) months, two (2) years, four (4) and eight (8) are affected including youth and the aged, mostly men.
Madam Celestine Asante expressed worry over the attitude of self-confidence among some workers who think they can’t be infected with the disease hence don’t wear a face mask,
“Most staff of the various institutions in our area do not use their nose masks because they think their colleagues cannot contract the disease; such self-confidence is a problem. It is not safe to step out without a face mask.’’ She bemoaned.
Touching on education, she advised parents to make the necessary available items for students’ despites government effort to support them.
‘If the government gives each student 3 nose masks, parents must add up, at least provide another five so they can use one for a day throughout the week.’’ She told hostess Obaahemaa Yaa Mirekua.
She also suggested that the various schools should appoint ‘COVID-prefect’ who will lead the campaign in the school to prevent the outbreak.
