25th August 2012 marked Katanga UK Alumni 4th anniversary and as usual, the event was celebrated in style. Katanga UK has grown from strength to strength since its inception in 2008 and has since seen its numbers soared considerably over these years.

The event was fully patronised and was packed with programmes that kept the ‘charging’ mood of Katangees alive. Food and drinks were readily available for all as heated ‘jama’ was chanted in the background.

Respect was paid to all deceased Katangees and prayers said in their honour. Condolences were also extended to their families and contributions made to support them as they grieve their love ones. Mr Albert Amponsah, a special guest from the USA Kantanga branch was also acknowledged as he shared a few words in recognition of the Katanga UK’s effort to support the families of our fallen brothers. He also encouraged Fellows to be resolute in their resolve and hold the flag of Kantaga high wherever they find themselves.

At the event, the outgoing President laid to bear the financial standings of the group and also gave accounts of the activities of the group since they took over reins of leadership in 2010. The executives; Mr Kay Amoah - President, David Huston - Secretary, Alfred Nortey - Financial Secretary and Prince Yawson – Organiser, were congratulated for their hard work and commitment they have demonstrated during their time of service

During the programme an election for new executives was held, as it is done every other year. The newly elected executives; Dr Nana Apraku Oppong - President, Mr S.K. Nuamah - Vice President, Mr David Lartey - Secretary, Mr Wisdom Gasu - Vice Secretary, Mr Joseph Obuobi - Financial Secretary and Benjamin Koomson – Organiser, were sworn in. In the absence of the President, the vice president assured the group that the new executive will continue with the good works of their predecessors and also push the Kantaga agenda to a new height.

The event was culminated in a special Katangee style where all Fellows recited the Katanga anthem......
