Lambeth, UK -- Police were called to reports of gunshots and people fighting with knives as Ghana fans celebrated their World Cup victory over USA.
A Lambeth police spokesman said calls to police had indicated serious violence, and people in the road blocking the traffic, but officers said on arrival they found “no accounts to support the calls received”.
Police were called at 10.55pm on Friday and found about 500 people who had gathered in Acre Lane to celebrate the Black Stars' extra time win.
Police said they were later called to a large group of people, believed to be Ghana fans, trying to get into the Gold Coast bar on Acre Lane.
The bar was advised to close following the incident.
A Lambeth police spokesman said: “Officers dispersed the crowd who were all good natured and no problems were encountered.”
