“As Christians you have every reason to live as people filled with a living hope as a result of the Death and Resurrection of Christ.”

Brother Baffour Amoateng, shared this and similar messages of inspiration and guidance based on 1st Peter 1:3-15 with the members of Ghana Ebenezer Methodist at Charlotte, North Carolina when he made official visit to the society as the new Lay Chairman of the North American Mission of Methodist Church, Ghana last Sunday, Feb 11, 2013.

He also warned the members to watch out for temptation since the Devil is always working hard to sow discord among us and to keep us away from the hope that we have through Christ. The best strategy for overcoming the Devil, he stressed is to ask just like the prophet Micah did: “What does the Lord require of me, but to do justice, and to walk humbly with my God, [Micah 6: 8]. The Lay Chairman also counseled the members to free their hearts from hate and to love one another by practicing forgiveness for each other as Christ’s did for us on the Cross.

After the sermon, Brother Baffour Amoateng also addressed the members at a Society Meeting in which he explained the need for members to volunteer their talent and time for leadership in the Society and the Mission at large. At the request of Sister Doris Gyamfi, the Society Steward, Brother Amoateng appealed for volunteers and as result leaders were appointment for The Advisory Boards on Ministries, Finance and Budget, Education and Youth, Women, and Social Responsibility.

The steward of Ebenezer Methodist Church who played host to the Lay Chairman is Mrs. Doris Gyamfi, who planted the society with her late husband Mr. Akwasi Gyamfi. The Minister-in -Charge who welcomed the Lay Chairman is Rev Dr. Joseph Osei, a former lecturer and Chaplain at the University of Ghana, now a Professor of Philosophy and Religion at Fayetteville State University, UNC.
