H.E. Mr. Isaac Osei, Ghana?s High Commissioner to the UK has stressed the need for all Ghanaians to get involved in the on-going process of transforming the country into a middle income status.
Mr. Osei called for hardwork to unleash the country?s latent potential in order to put Ghana on a path of sustainable growth and prosperity.
He added that nation-build should therefore be the collective responsibility of all Ghanaians and ?not just for the NPP, the President and his Cabinet alone?.
By re-dedicating themselves to nation-building, Mr. Osei said Ghanaians would be creating a solid foundation for future generations.
Speaking in a interview for broadcast on the Original Black Entertainment Television, OBE, operated by a Ghanaian, to mark the 48th anniversary of Ghana?s independence, Mr. Osei said the occasion should inspire Ghanaians to look forward to the future with hope and optimism and pointed out that concrete measures had been put in place to move the country forward once again.
?President Kufuor is not just an avowed democratic but he has also started the process of transforming the economy and mainstreaming equity in the provision of social and economic infrastructure?, he added.
He urged Ghanaians in the Diaspora, especially those who are qualified, experienced and financially endowed, to consider returning home to undertake projects which would benefit the country and ultimately create wealth for themselves.
Meanwhile, the London-Ghana Seventh Day Adventist Church has promised to join in the crusade by the High Commission to educate Ghanaians on the evils of getting of involved in the drug trade either for pleasure or for the enhancement of their financial status.
The Church also promised to assist the High Commission in the registration of Ghanaians in the UK.
These declarations were made by a four-member team of the SDA Church during a courtesy on Mr. Isaac Osei, Ghana?s High Commissioner to the UK, who called for the involvement of the Church groups and opinion leaders in the campaigns.
The four-member delegation was led by Pastor Emmanuel Osei, Head Pastor, London Ghana SDA Church. The other members were Pastor George Daddie, Head of Slough SDA (Ghana) ; Pastor Owusu Boateng, Associate Pastor, London Ghana SDA Church and Nana Sifa Twum, Director of Communications of the Church
The delegation also pledged to consider setting up a Destitute Fund to help their members and other Ghanaians in need.
High Commissioner Osei commended the Church for its contributions to the socio-economic development of the country. He said the Church?s Valleyview University had helped to provide good educational opportunities for many students and been the trailblazer for private tertiary education in Ghana
