A well attended memorial Service at the Freedom Centre International headed by Rev. Dr. Shadrach Ofosu Ware, climaxed the first anniversary of the passing of the Late President John Evans Atta Mills in London.

Preaching the sermon, the President of the Christian Council of Ghana, UK, Canon George Ansah of the Anglican Church urged Ghanaians to do away with the pettiness that has characterised the country’s political scene because it is preventing decent people from serving the nation.

Cannon Ansah said the late President fought a good fight serving his nation, lived a selfless and devoted life and became a father to many.

He said the legacy President Atta Mills left for the country, would benefit both the current and future generations to come.

His Excellency, Prof. Kwaku Danso-Boafo, who read the biography of the late President, congratulated the Christian Council of Ghana UK and the Ghana Union for putting together activities that marked the first anniversary of the Late President.

Prof. Danso-Boafo said the country Ghana is by far bigger and more precious than any political party or politician and therefore Ghanaians should let the passing of President John Evans Atta Mills together with the sacrifices he made unite the country.

Rev. Dr. Lawrence Tetteh, Chaplain of the Ghana Christian council, in closing remarks, urged Ghanaians to accept God’s will by doing what is right at all times. He also charged Ghanaians to continue to live peacefully with one another in order to preserve our nationhood that our forefathers left for us.
