The Mfantseman Association of the Carolinas was inaugurated on Saturday,September 28,2013 in Charlotte,North Carolina.
The occasion was marked by a colourful display of Fante culture,dance dinner and poetry recitals in Fante.
In his opening remarks,Professor Herbert Winful,the award –winning Professor of the University of Michigan admonished all those present to be law-abiding.He also emphasized on the importance of education especially in Science and Technology.He paid tribute to Dr James Kwegyir Aggrey, who was internationally known as Aggrey Of Africa for his contribution to education,He re-echoed Dr Aggrey’s vision for gender equality in education by quoting the statement Dr Aggrey made in the early 19th century “if you educate a man you educate an individual but if you educate a woman you educate a family.”Among the invited guests were Mrs Raemi Evans,grand daughter of Dr James Kwegyir Aggrey and her husband Mr Fred Evans.
The co-chairman of the occasion was Dr Peter A. Sam, an international expert on Environmental Science.
