Mills Has Really Failed Ghanaians -NPP UK

Tue, 5 Oct 2010 Source: --

During the 61st New Year school in January this year, A speech was read on the behalf of President John Mills by Alex Tettey Enyo, the Minister of Education. promising Ghanaians that he would sustain democratic governance , uphold the rule of law, end the culture of impunity and indiscipline of youths rampaging throughout the country.

He also promised to abide by the sanctity of the constitution.

A state of anarchy

The situation in Ghana today however paints a different picture. Since he made this promise, Journalists have been arrested and harassed for criticizing the government, elements of the ruling party and their sycophants in the press are threatening members of the judiciary, members of his party especially the youth are still seizing public toilets and offices and driving out officials of National Health Insurance Scheme offices. The latest institution to be attacked are the District and Municipal Chief Executives. We have seen violent attacks on district and municipal chief executives in Wa, Yendi, Tamale ,Sankore and Effiduase and some sustaining injuries and in the case of Yendi the district chief executive had to flee for his life as he was nearly murdered.

Rising Youth Unemployment

Currently the state of Youth Enemployment is so alarming that we are sitting on a timebomb. By March, 2011 285,000 graduates have no access to a job.,47,300 have been sacked from the National Youth Employment Scheme. Akua Dansua Ministry for Youth and Sports makes an astonishing statement that the National Youth Employment Scheme will no longer focus on employment. Serial Liar Okudzeto Ablakwa, whose magical 1.5 million employment figures were disputed by his own colleague E.T. Mensah, Minister of Employment who said he did not know about these figures when he was asked Despite the outdooring of the National Youth Policy, this policy fails totally to address and implement an action plan to reduce youth employment by soliciting partnership with the private sector to support skills training and mentoring. NPP believes that by entering into a partnership agreement with Private institutions to reduce their taxes by 5% will enable them to expand capacity so they can support government efforts by employing more people.

Corruption Supervisior

Tema Oil refinery is shut down deliberately for weeks, so oil marketing companies owned by NDC members and some members of the board of GNPC can import crude oil and sell back to the public , make a profit and trouser the money to their pockets. So far there have been four gas shortages in Ghana this year alone!!! We have suggested the government consider investing in building 2 major Gas plants to compliment the West African Gas pipeline but they don’t care. They are interested in spending 1.6 Billion cedis on pampers and buying tickets to come to school in London every week at huge cost to the state. The government is resorting to Hedging our oil with no idea of what the future price of oil would be. We have not forgotten the debacle of Ashanti Goldfields which nearly collapsed when Gold was hedged at the London stock exchange by this same NDC government in the 90s .

State sponsored terrorism

The recent outbursts by the likes of Dr Kwabena Adjei, The NDC chairman, Ebo Barton Oduro, Deputy Attornery General and David Annan, a lawyer and official at the Presidency who claim they would make sure their members would clean up the judiciary and that there were many ways to kill a cat should have all decent minded Ghanaians concerned. Mr Adjei really should concentrate on sorting out the chaos and confusion he has created at GETFUND We want to know if NDC youths and Azorka boys are going to be unleashed on the Chief Justice, the Supreme court judges or the High court judges. We are worried that the courts in Ghana are going to be locked up or lives of judges would be in danger .We are so concerned why Atta Mills who claims he is ‘asomdwehene’ would authorise the instigation of violence by the individuals listed below who are continually planning and executing violent attacks on civic society organisations, journalists, opposition party members and the judiciary in Ghana.

Dr Kwabena Adjei-Chairman of the Ruling NDC and architect of attacks on the judiciary including plots with militant NDC members in Accra to eliminate the Chief Justice, Mrs Georgina Wood.

Sofo Azorka-Northern Regional 1st Vice Chairman of the NDC and one of the most violent politicians in modern Leader of the Azorka Boys Ghana, a paramilitary organisation armed and funded by the NDC government .This group is currently training at the Kamina Air Barracks in Tamale and Asutuare in the Eastern Region

Madam Anita De-Souza-National Womens Organiser of the NDC and architect of violent acts that caused 7 opposition members to sustain severe injuries at a bye election in Atiwa, one of the most bloody electoral events in recent times.

Doctor Tony Aidoo-Special Advisor to President Mills currently leading government attacks against churches and the Christian population and advocating restriction of religious freedom in Ghana .He is also calling for militant attacks against opposition party members nationwide. similar to Mugabe’s unleasing of the war veterans against opposition in Zimbabwe

Major Dawuni- A member of the Ghana Armed Forces and organiser of NDC paramilitary groups in Accra. He personally armed men and women with cutlasses, machetes, pistols and clubs from Accra to terrorize opposition members resulting in clashes at a recent by election at Atiwa in the Eastern Region.

Madam Rose Atinga Bio-Greater Accra Regional Commander of Police and NDC special operations officer who is also a card bearing member .she co ordinates attacks and harassment of opposition leaders and opinion leaders in the region.

A President who has lost his Way

The State of anarchy in Ghana can be blamed on one man and that is the president Atta Mills who is running a Mafioso style regime that supports corruption, lack of accountability and discipline. He has abdicated his responsibilities to protect all Ghanaians irrespective of grouping, party affiliation and creed. He has allowed the rule of law to collapse, the constitution to be subverted, our petroleum industry to be hijacked by cronies and our people to be enduring high utility bills. He has stood by while our fishermen struggle, our children abused at childrens homes while officials go scot free, our traders cannot make money, our teachers become dislillusioned, our civil servants rebel, our banks and businesses struggle to compete and maintain productivity . Today, instead of building structures to create our own capital markets and market economy and wean ourselves off this vicious cyle of begging,Mr Mills is telling us getting loans from donors is an achievement. The government of Ghana under his leadership has lost its way.

We are saying it like it is: Ghanaians voted for Professor Mills but WE QUESTION HIS JUDGEMENT,HIS ATTITUDE,HIS HUNGER TO BUILD AND BRING PROGRESS TO OUR COUNTRY. It is interesting that some of his own party members are questioning and preparing to challenge his leadership.

Let us all ponder with the words of Dr Sekou Nkrumah a leading member of the NDC and former National Youth Co-ordinator, who we may disagree with on a lot of things but agree with him on some things he said. He says “I regret campaigning and voting for Mills”. “Professor Mills is not the leader we are looking for”.”Ghana can do better with another leader”

Professor Mills must search his conscience and accept that he mentally cannot cope with the demands and expectations of our people . He is indeed the weakest, the worst and the most visionless president we have had since independence.
