Motec Life-Uk Hosts Its Patron Daasebre Oti Boateng In Engalnd

The Omanhene of the New Juabeng Traditional Area and the President of the Eastern Regional House of Chiefs, Daasebre Professor Oti Boateng, has been hosted to a dinner at St Albans near London by the Motec Life-UK, a medical charity organisation based in West Hertfordshire in England.

The group comprises of volunteers and allied health professionals whose objectives are to provide educational, training and health care services to the underprivileged people of the West African subcontinent. This is being achieved through a co-ordinated programme of working visits to targeted areas such as in the sub-Saharan region especially in Ghana.

As a multi-racial, multi-national and multi-faith organization of volunteers and allied health professionals, Motec Life-UK has rendered invaluable services to benefit thousands of underprivileged people in Ghana.

The organisation has effected improvements in the practice of Physiotherapy, Microbiology, Pathology, Pharmacy-vigilance and Medical procurement in a number of hospitals in the Ghana

It has upgraded IT skills and equipment in target hospitals and health care training institutions at the Komfo Anokye, Prams, Nkawkaw, Jirapa and Donyima hospitals.

Motec Life-UK’s nutritional and rehabilitation project in Jiripa in North-Western Ghana have also given extended life to hundreds of people in the areas.

Addressing the gathering Daasebre Oti Boateng stressed the need to inculcate into the youth in the country, the Spirit of Volunteerism.

This according to him, this will help provide the youth with skills and knowledge in their fields of study. “It will also inculcate in them the spirit of selflessness which is a key requisite for nation building.” He noted

Daasebre Oti Boateng who is the Patron of the organisation expressed delight in the volunteering sprit of the members which benefited a good number of people in Ghana and elsewhere.

He said volunteering is an ideal tool to discover something one is really good at and develop a new skill, “and this is what our youth must learn and there many avenues to develop their talents and skills through volunteerism especially while they are not in employment or have finished education”.

“Looking around, each and everyone gathered here can claim to be successful. However, even though success is necessary it is by no means sufficient. The sufficiency criterion is achieved only when you make a positive difference in the lives of others.” Daasebre Oti Boateng observed.

Quoting the famous American Educationist and Reformer, Horace Mann, The President of the Eastern Regional House of Chiefs noted that “we do ourselves the most good doing something for others: doing nothing for others is the undoing of one’s self, we must be purposely kind and generous or we miss the best part of existence”.

The longest Ghana Government Statistician who currently provides consultancy services for the African Union and the United Nations as well as the Commonwealth noted that true happiness is attained not through self-gratification but through fidelity to a worthy cause such as the services being rendered by Motec Life-UK.

He was particularly happy about the group’s ability to provide post-graduate training to Ghanaian Trauma and Orthopedic Surgeons in St Georges Hospital in London, England and Korle- Bu, Akosombo, Koforidua and the 37 Military Hospitals in Ghana.

The function which was well attended by highly profiled professional and some members of the UK House of Commons was also addressed by the President of Motec Life –UK Dr. Paul Ofori-Atta who expressed commitment to help improve health delivery in Ghana.

He Daasebre Oti Boateng for his selfless and what he termed as “un-parallel” commitment towards the advancement of the organisation.
