N. America NDC dismisses NPP UK Comments

North America NDC Coordinating Council regrets the hypocrisy and down-right misinformation peddled by NPP UK AND IRELAND BRANCH with reference to their ignoble press release of Monday April 17, 2006 that gave a complete misreading, misunderstanding and misinterpretation of Prof John Mills' earlier press release of April 12, 2006.

Prof Mills was clear and concise with his admonition of peace and for avoidance of conflict, at the first page of his release when he said emphatically: "it is obvious to me that the direction in which the NPP Government is taking the country, unless it is called to order is bound to lead nowhere but directly into conflict". In order to avoid the very mischaracterization that the NPP UK Branch has resorted to, Prof Mills made painstaking chronological references to the errors of the NPP Government from its inception in 2001 to the present.

What is so "confounding" that cannot be understood by even JSS students regarding Prof Mills' timely call for a moral check on; the NPP Minister of Local Government Charles Bintim, hauling 2 billion Cedis to his Barclays Bank Private Savings Account within 8 months; the revelation by former NPP Chairman Haruna Esseku of the Castle kickback scandal involving contractors and the stuffing of 10 Billion Cedis in Mr. Esseku car; dishonest acquisition of properties by NPP officials?

Is it not "contradictory" for NPP Government to pursue unrelentless inquisition and selective justice style of governance where NDC erstwhile officials are paraded before court on spurious and nebulous charges of 'causing financial loss to the State' even though NDC is 'privy to admissions within the NPP Government itself that the cases against these persons are without merit'? Two obnoxious cases involve a leading member of NDC, Mr. Ato Ahwoi, who has been paraded in court for 4 years over a Hearts of Oak player transfer and Nii Lante Vanderpuije, whose case before the courts is only revived by NPP Government only when election in Odododiodoo is imminent.

Is it not Machiavellian tactics to parade Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings, a former First Lady of Ghana and her executives of her NGO, the 31st December Women's Movement as purchasers of a State Divested entity in the same dock as Mr. Emmanuel Agbodo and his erstwhile executives of the State mandated Divestiture Implementation Committee as sellers only after Nana Konadu and the purchasers aforementioned are on the verge of prevailing in a civil action for libel against NPP oriented newspapers in which the Attorney General is a common witness, but turned prosecutor and persecutor in the unjust criminal action complained of by Prof Mills and all right thinking members of society?

President Kufuor lacks effective leadership and has shown by clear evidence of a 90 plus foreign trips that the primary reason for him to fight for the presidency of Ghana is to travel at the least provocation, across the globe in a mad rush for dollar per diems. His recent visit to Washington should have been curtailed with the drowning on the Volta Lake of the AP reported 120 innocent evacuees from Afram Plains, just like Ariel Sharon of Israel cut short his visit to Washington at the time of a Terrorist Bombing in his homeland.

US Congressional approval for 500 million dollar aid is necessary as it is not to be doled out by a mere fiat of President Bush. The plain truth has emerged that Kufuor's trip to Washington was wasteful and useless and this is borne out by the White House Press Pool comments below.

South lawn driveway

President Bush, in a blue pin-striped suit and pale yellow tie, appeared briefly on the driveway with Ghana President Kufuor. POTUS, squinting into the sun, said: Blah blah blah "? Millennium Challenge Account."

President Kufuor said: Blah blah blah "? AGOA" ? but also: blah blah blah "? then there's the TIFA, Trade and Investment Framework law." As always, check the transcript for exact quotes.

After taking no questions, the two presidents walked up the driveway toward the residence. At one point, Bush put his arm around Kufuor. They walked under the side of the canopy and disappeared.

We conclude this statement by dismissing the lies, twisting and parsing of words by NPP and its affiliates. NDC has acted appropriately by calling NPP's attention to the dangerous path they are leading Ghana into.
