A number of Ghanaians now living in the Dallas, Texas area of the U.S.A
have come together to form a new NDC USA branch. The group has been
consistently meeting since January.
During a meeting on Saturday, March 2, 2013 the branch's new executives
released its first press statement congratulating President John Dramani
Mahama for handsomely winning the December 2012 Presidential elections.
According to the statement, “the victory of NDC in the election was as a result of
the many developmental projects that the NDC led administration had in an
unprecedented manner been able to achieve during its four year rule since
its electoral victory in 2008.” The press statement also congratulated the
Party leadership for a well-planned and masterfully executed campaign.
The NDC Texas branch encouraged the New Patriotic Party to reconsider its
stance of refusing to accept the obvious truth that the NDC totally
walloped her during the 2012 elections as seen by the surplus of about 50 seats
won by NDC at the parliamentary level making it the majority party in
parliament.
The statement read, “it is also regrettable that the NPP parliamentarians
have chosen to boycott important parliamentary duties such as vetting
ministerial appointees." The NPP's conduct in parliament during the President's
State of the Nation's address in which they displayed placards with the
inscription ‘stealers’ boldly displayed was "disrespectful,
unparliamentarily and in bad taste. The statement said that, "the voice
of the people is the voice of God." It went on to commend the President
for the wise choices he has so far made during the appointment process and
prayed that God may steady the hand of the President as he tries to resolve
the current challenges to power supply in Ghana.
The chairperson, Mrs. Janet Akweley Wilson stated that, “Ghana, the NDC
and President Mahama will continue to be in the prayers of all members of the
branch." You have our support, and may the Good Lord guide you in your
daily handling of affairs of Mother Ghana. Congratulations once again.
The executives of NDC Texas branch which is based in Dallas are Janet
Akweley Wilson, Chairperson, Phillip Gyarko, Vice-Chairperson, Efui Tamakloe,
