The election of 2008 which brought the NDC party under the Presidency of Prof. Evans Atta Mills to power, Ghanaians in the Diaspora esp. Central Europe decided to form Chapters of NDC in various EU Countries.

Eventually, Ghanaians resident in Countries like Germany, Switzerland and Norway took the initiative to fulfill the opening of these Chapters.

This was followed by other countries like Denmark, Netherlands, and Belgium etc.

According to the rules and regulations guiding the opening of NDC Chapters outside Ghana, it stipulates that, Chapters could be effective after having successfully organized five respective branches in a city of one’s country.

Based upon this successive formation of these Chapters, it has become very necessary for the NDC – Hamburg branch to host this year’s annual General meeting in the city of Hamburg on the 15th May 2010 to deliberate over issues affecting the NDC party.

The Chairman of NDC Switzerland branch Mr. Albert Adzayi (Who is also the Chairperson of the meeting)has released a communiqué to all respective branches to have outlined that, delegates of two persons each would come from the following countries :

Germany, Netherlands, Switzerland, Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Belgium, Italy etc

Dignitaries to attend the function include Hon.Henry Ford Kamel MP and Deputy Minister of Lands and forestry shall also brief the meeting about the state of affairs of the country under the NDC Presidency of Prof. Evans Atta Mill.

Matters to be discussed include, the draft constitution / regulation which gives NDC-Europe the legal mandate to operate; Introduction of standards for branch Membership in respect of office duration, dues payments etc.

In another development, the NDC executives from Hamburg officiated the formation of two more German Branches. They are NDC Luebeck and Kiel branches respectively.

The elected Executives from Luebeck are as follows:

Mr. Samuel Enoo as the Chairman whilst Mr. Ismael Tawiah being the Vice.

Others are, Mr. John Amofa, Secretary; Alhaji Alhanssan (Financial Secretary) and Mr. Tony Ansah as the Propaganda Secretary.

The elected Executives from Kiel are also as follows;

Mr. Charles Boye Seth (Chairman); Mr. Thomas Crabbe (Vice Chairman); Mr. Richard Aryee (Secretary); Madam Sarah Adokor(Financial Secretary) and Seidu Shaibu (Propaganda Secretary).

At a forum to end up the meeting, the participants further deliberated over the following matters:

That, the Ghanaians in the Diaspora contribute significantly to boost the economy of Ghana.

E.g. Cash remittance to families back home contributes foreign Exchange earning which has topped Nation’s source of revenue; Exportation of used commercial vehicles has helped to elevate the transportation burden of the masses;

They further proposed that, there’s the need for the Gov’t to set up nautical commission to re-introduce Shipping lines to ply the West coast and Europe/America routes. When implemented, it would create employment to the masses and also relieved freight burden for numerous Ghanaians as well as other nationals.

They also discussed about Sanitation; Electricity; Drinking water with relevant proposals and constructive recommendations to the Government.
