The NDC UK & Ireland Chapter held a spectacular fundraising, dinner and dance event over the weekend to raise funds for the benefit of the NDC Ghana Headquarters Building Project in Accra.

The event held at the London Marriot Hotel near Swiss Cottage, North West London, was well attended by members and supporters of the National Democratic Congress in the UK.

The Special Guest of Honour for the evening was His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, Vice President of the Republic of Ghana.

Other guests included members of the diplomatic corps, His Excellency Mr Zola Skweiyiya of South Africa and Mrs Thuthulike Skweiyiya, Ghana’s High Commissioner to the UK, His Excellency, Prof. Kwaku Danso-Boafo and Mrs Dorothy Danso-Boafo, Ghana’s Deputy High Commissioner to the UK Mrs Elizabeth Nicol, Ghana’s High Commissioner to Equatorial Guinea Mr William Ntow- Boahene. Senior party members included the NDC International Director Mr Kofi Attor, National Youth Organiser Mr Ludwig Hlodze, Deputy Chief of Staff Mr Alex Segbefia and wife.

The function which was billed as an event for ticket holders only became an extravaganza that attracted party sympathisers, wells wishers and many Ghanaians resident in the UK. As dinner was served, it was eye-popping to see the Abladei Cultural Group put on a spectacular acrobatic displays and cultural dance routines to the delight of the large audience in attendance.

Mr Alex Sebgefia raised the toast for mother Ghana, the NDC party and the local UK Chapter, to which Mr Hlodze responded with his usual sense of humour and pleasantry.

During the music and dance interlude, His Excellency, the vice president wowed the audience with his sensational rhythmic step dance with the Chapter women organiser Ms Mary Osabutey to open the floor. From that moment it was an evening full of western delight designed to entertain with invited guests joining the duo to make their mark and presence felt on the dance floor.

The focus of the evening was of course to raise money for the National Democratic Headquarters Building Project in Accra. Mr Alfred Boyan expressed his gratitude and thanked the invited guests for digging deep to make the fundraising event a success.

For those who needed sustenance for dancing into the night there were miniature grilled sandwich and chocolate ganache with cocoa liquor. However it seemed dancing was the priority as guests kicked off their shoes and whirl towards the dawn.

Truly, it was an evening full of western delight never to be forgotten.
