NDC Washington Metro Branch Honours A Dedicated Member

Wed, 15 Jul 2009 Source: --

The Washington DC Metro Branch of NDC-USA held an extra-ordinary meeting on Sunday July 12, 2009 during which they honoured Mr. Emmanuel Kudjo Ave for his long and dedicated service to the National Democratic Congress in North America.

In 1992 Uncle Kudjo, as he is affectionately known, co-founded the Washington DC Metro Branch of the NDC with three other members. He has since worked assiduously towards the development of the NDC apparatus in North America, and the North America Co-ordinating Council (NACC-NDC)

It was therefore not surprising to see the joyous and jubilant crowd of branch members and NDC sympathizers from across the Washington DC Metro area, singing and dancing to the NDC anthem and Hip-Life tunes while expressing a high sense of approval and appreciation for the works of Uncle Kudjo over the years.

Before proposing a toast, the Chairman of the Washington Metro branch, Mr. Ben Mensah, recounted the numerous capacities Uncle Kudjo has selflessly served in the NDC both in good and bad times, and called on the youth within the party to emulate such exemplary leadership in their service to the party. The Chairman went on to thank him for his loyalty and dedication while urging him to continue to make himself available for service because the party will always need people of his caliber. He also thanked uncle Kudjo for chairing the organizing committee for the recently held NDC-USA Congress that was hosted by the branch and said that “all the high marks given for the quality of that event should personally go to Uncle Kudjo, because we all need to appreciate people while they are with us not in their absence”.

In accepting the honour, Mr. Kudjo Ave expressed shock at the surprised event and thanked all the executive and members of the branch for the kind gesture. He stated that since the formation of the NDC he has never loved the party any less, whether in government or in opposition” he added. He thanked his family for their support and sacrifices, and a long list of party loyalist who helped with organizing the party in the United States and Canada including his fellow co-founders, past and current leaders of NDC-USA and NDC-Canada, as well as party leaders in Accra. He assured the branch members and the party in general that “I will continue to avail myself for what ever I can do to help”. He called on NDC members and sympathizers to continue to give their unfailing support to the party both in kind and in cash, as well as to continue to pray for God’s guidance for President Mills administration and the leadership of the party.
