Below is the full speech delivered by Mary Osabutey women organiser of The National Democratic Congress (NDC) UK & Ireland Chapter

Your Excellency, the High Commissioner and the deputy, Mr Chairman, Ladies and gentlemen.

We gather here today because we have chosen hope over fear, unity of purpose over conflict and discord.

We remain a fledgling Party, but in the words of Scripture, the time has come to set aside childish things. The time has come to reaffirm our enduring spirit; to choose our better history; to carry forward that precious gift, that noble idea, passed on from generation to generation: the God-given promise that in our GRAET party all are equal, all are free, and all deserve a chance to pursue their full measure of happiness.

In reaffirming the greatness of our GREAT party (NDC) and our nation Ghana, we must understand that greatness is never a given. It must be earned. Let look at our GREAT party’s journey, our journey in the NDC has never been one of short-cuts or settling for less. It has not been the path for the faint-hearted for those who prefer leisure over work, or seek only the pleasures of riches and fame. Rather, it has been the risk-takers, the doers, the makers of things like the women’s wing of our party - some celebrated, but more often women obscure in their labour, which have carried us up the long rugged path, towards prosperity and freedom both for our party and country.

I will therefore ask all to join , in the work of re-electing our GREAT party for 2012 , making this the only way it’s been done in our party block by block, brick by brick, tough-skinned by tough-skinned lets win 2012 for our Great party and country.

Hence let us offer a new spirit of patriotism; of service and responsibility where each of us resolves to pitch in and work harder and look after not only ourselves, but each other. Let us remember that in this election, we rise or fall as one party, as one people.

Let us resist the temptation to fall back on the same pettiness and immaturity that has poisoned our ranks for so long. Let us remember that our party was founded on the values of accountability, probity self-reliance, individual liberty, and national unity. Those are values we all share, we are not enemies, but friends, though passion may have strained, it must not break our oath of affection.

Let us ask ourselves – if our children should live to see the next century; what progress will we have made?

This is our chance to answer that call. This is our moment.

Our Country has been perfected by what we have already achieved during our first term in office; this has been outlined by our chairman, however

• The honesty and perfect leadership that has been exhibited by our Great party, Gives us hope for what we can and must achieve in the coming years.

Let us remember that we have earned the trust of Ghanaians and showed that we're working for the people and looking out for their interests.

Our government had made sure that every child in Ghana today, has a decent shot at life, and that the doors of opportunity remain open to all. Ghanaians know we can do better. And Ghanaians want that choice.

So even though we face big and difficult challenges, we do not give up. We do not quit. We do not allow fear or division to break our spirit and tonight, I promise you fellow Akatamansonians the future is ours to win

But to get there, we can't just stand still. The future is not a gift. It is an achievement. Sustaining the better Ghana agenda dream has never been about standing pat. It has require sacrifice and struggle

A new year has come. We don't quit. Let's seize this moment to start anew, to carry the better Ghana Agenda dream forward, and to strengthen our party and country once more

so comrades, tonight, if you feel the same energy I do, the same urgency I do the same passion I do, the same hopefulness I do? if we do what we must do, then I have no doubt that all across the country, from Accra to Bolgatanga, from Half Assini to Ho, the people will rise up in December, and his excellency John Evans Atta Mills will be sworn in as president, and His Excellency John Mahama will be sworn in as vice president, and Ghana will reclaim its promise, and the better Ghana agenda will be fulfilled in double double.

So let us work hard and win 2012 for our Great party and more especially our country Ghana. Thank you very much, long live Ghana long live our great party NDC, EYE ZU EYE ZA
