Hundreds of people in the New England Region, and across the country turned out in numbers to join NPP-Boston’s Summer Party on Saturday, August 4th, 2007. The party was to celebrate the creation of NPP- Boston Chapter, to celebrate Ghanaian Culture, and most importantly the rule of law and government and political progress under the leadership of the New Patriotic Party. The event attracted several big-name supporters of NPP in the area, academic professors, businessmen, politicians, and lawyers. The event not only attracted Ghanaians but American government officials and business people who pledged their support for the growth, and sustainability of the Boston Chapter.

Among those in attendance were the family members of the illustrious Dr J. B. Danquah, who showed their appreciation and firm support to NPP-Boston Chapter. The party was the first in many events that the Boston Chapter has outlined for the coming year. The event was hosted by the members of the NPP-Boston Chapter, which has the following executives: Konongo Fordjour, Chairman; Yaw Twum Sakyi, Vice Chairman; Afua Sarkodie-Mensah, General Secretary; Joe Appiah; Financial Secretary; Elder Oppong Treasurer; Hilda Ampadu-Nicholson, Women’s Organizer; Kwabena Kyei-Aboagye Jr, Public Relations Officer; and Rebecca Osei, Deputy Public Relations Officer.

The event was also attended by Mr. Kofi Boateng, NPP-USA National Chairman and his family, Nana Agyei Yeboah, First National Vice-Chairman and NPP-New England Chairman and his wife, and Prince Osei Bonsu, National PRO. The keynote address was delivered by Chairman Boateng, who stressed that Ghana is heading to a higher level and that the days of NDC leadership are gone for good. He also spoke about the ROPAA and urged Ghanaians in the Diaspora to take advantage of the ROPAA in exercising their voting right. He ended up the speech with an open forum for questions.

Security and efficiency of the Ghana Police Force were some of the questions raised. According to Chairman Boateng the NPP Government has, among other things, increased the required level of education of the police force, as well as the availability of transportation to them. They are also independent of the government, and work hand in hand with the Judiciary, all to make the Police more efficient, and create a safer Ghana . The government has also developed a 60 billion cedi project to provide street names and house addresses as part of the restructuring of police operations.

The party was a huge success as many attendees registered to become members of the Boston Chapter.
