NPP Japan re-elect Bernard Oppong-Kusi Kwame as National Chairman

Japan Bernard Oppong-Kusi secured 64 votes to beat his main contender Dr. Samuel Amponsah

The relentless pursuit to create an effective networking and collaboration between party executives and those in positions of authority in Ghana to encourage more members in the diaspora to invest in Ghana has seen Mr. Bernard Oppong-Kusi, a founding member of the NPP Japan through the second term of office as the Chairman, NPP Japan.

The delegates of NPP Japan on Sunday 18th March 2018 re-elected the incumbent Chairman, Mr. Bernard Oppong-Kusi to continue as the Chairman of NPP Japan for the years ahead.

At the end of the closely contested election, Mr. Bernard Oppong-Kusi obtained 64 votes against his main contender Dr. Samuel Amponsah, who secured 40 votes.

Mr. Micheal Awuah and Mr. Asiamah Bosompem were also elected unopposed as 1st Vice Chairperson and Organizer of the party respectively. Mr Jerry Agyemang was elected 2nd Chairperson with 51 votes as against Sheila Brown Yeboah with 43 votes. Reverend Charles Newman was also elected the General Secretary securing 64 votes to beat Mr Aikins Abeiku 41 votes.

Mr Constance Yeboah was also elected as the Youth Organiser with 55 votes, while Ms Lilian Ofei also beat her closest challenger, Mrs Kesewa Aikins by securing 53 votes to 47 votes respectively for the position of Women's Organizer.

In a statement, re-elected Chairman, Mr Bernard Oppong-Kusi, attributed his interest in the position to patriotism as well as dedication to the service of Ghana. He, therefore, called on party members and the public, especially those in the diaspora for their support in moving the party to the next level.

Further to this, Mr. Bernard Oppong-Kusi noted that the assignment is not a matter of a mere contest but stepping up to do well in moving the party forward to achieve to recapture power again in the 2020 and beyond.
