Charlotte NC, 07-07-2012, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, NPP Vice-Presidential Candidate together with other party executives launched the Charlotte North Carolina chapter of the New Patriotic Party. The Charlotte chapter is the 18th chapter of the NPP in the United States.

The ceremony that also served as a fund raiser attracted a good number of Ghanaians from existing chapter of Raleigh, Atlanta, Ohio, Minnesota and Tennessee.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Philip Barnor made a strong case for Ghanaians to reject the NDC come December 7. He said the failed promises of the NDC and their entrenched interest in corruption and judgement debt payment was enough reason for them to be voted out.

Kwasi Agyeman Busia also speaking at the event told the audience of the missed opportunity by Ghana over the last three years with the NDC in government. According to him Ghanaians should not allow three more years under an incompetent Mills-led NDC administration.

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, who was the special guest speaker, bemoaned the fact that after 55 years of independence, Ghana is still struggling with the provision of basic services like water and sanitation and power to its citizens, problems many other countries resolved hundreds of years ago. According to him, Ghana needed a results oriented approach to solving basic economic problems and an Akufo-Addo led NPP was ready to build a globally competitive economy in Ghana. “There is therefore a need for a paradigm shift because we cannot continue doing things the same way and expect different results. The paradigm shift that Nana Akufo-Addo and the NPP are seeking the mandate of Ghanaians to implement is one of focusing on solutions and results underpinned by a mindset change and the inculcation of a can-do spirit in Ghanaians” He told the audience.
