NPP-USA: Corrupt Mahama/NDC exposed

Former deputy Minister of Communications, Victoria Hammah’s revelation of
NDC’s political manipulation of Supreme Court’s verdict of the 2012
Presidential Election Petition and deep seated corruption by Mahama and
NDC cronies have vindicated NPP’s long-standing observations. The hurried
dismissal of Victoria Hammah is a strategic political ploy to shrink the political space to deny Ghanaians access to details of Mahama and his looting brigade of National Demolition Crooks (NDC)’s thievery of the economy and shield them from accountability.

Victoria’s revelations now amply explain the underlying scandalous manipulations that motivated the Supreme Court to reach such a morally and legally decadent judgment despite the overwhelming evidence submitted by the NPP. It is now evident there were diabolical twisting of arm of some of the judges by Nana Oye Lithur, the wife of the Lawyer for the President,

Tony Lithur due to their connections with the Supreme Court Judges.

Not surprisingly, the mystical unmerited SC verdict endorsed anomalies of over-voting, voting without the mandatory biometric verification , duplicate serial numbers of ballot accounting documents (Pink sheets), absence of signature of presiding officers as acceptable democracy norms that have blighted our electoral and judicial systems. The revelations on the tape paint a damming picture of how venal, weak and compromised the judiciary in Ghana is. The integrity of the Supreme Court is soiled as manifested by the current level of conspicuous height of despondency and lack of confidence in the judiciary following the revelations’ confirmation of the “Stolen verdict”. At the moment, Ghanaians lack confidence in the Judiciary because of overt corruption and nepotism. As the rule of law fades with judicial corruption and official intrusion, agonized Ghanaians are seized with fear, dismay, and a sense of helplessness and hopelessness for the future of the rule of law and our nascent. To redeem the dignity and integrity of the Judiciary and restore Ghanaians’ confidence in it, particularly the Supreme Court, NPP-USA reiterates our call for an immediate investigation of the revelations and the nefarious Supreme Court verdict.

The revelations confirmed that Mahama’s government is riddled with pervasive corruption, nepotism and economic waste. There is pervasive corruption and nepotism at all levels of government that breed cronyism that overrides competency in awarding official positions as evident in the appointment of immature Victoria Hammah. The unheralded nauseating prevalence of corruption in Ghana mocks Mahama’s over-trumpeted resolute to embattle corruption. President Mahama himself is neck deep in corruption and has personally been cited for complicity of corruption by some NDC members. He was involved in STX Korea housing deal, Cuban Medical Scholarship deal, acquisition of the Embraer aircraft deals, GYEEDA, SUBA, ISOFTON scandals, sale of Merchant Bank to cover up his brother, Ibrahim Mahama’s $85 million dubious loan and purchase of private jet.

Mahama’s directive to fight corruption is obviously a political gimmick insulting the intelligence of Ghanaians because there is no way he will commit a “political suicide” as he is the total embodiment of corruption. Under Mahama’s administration Ghana has attained the unenviable label as the third most corrupt nation in the world according to the Integrity International’s ranking.

While they plunder the economy, the NDC sadistically unleash on agonizing Ghanaians inhumane economic hardships such as the earlier hike in utility tariffs and VAT by 2.5% at the time of massive economic hardships facing Ghanaians. Despite the vague but “tasty” NDC promises of a “Better Ghana Agenda” the NDC has plunged Ghana into interminable social economic and political devastation as a result of its leadership incompetence and corruption. The NDC made deceptive succulent developmental promises of unprecedented job creation, zero-down corruption, improved education, health and security systems to Ghanaians but the NDC and Mahama who after 5 years is still in first gear heading to reverse gear have woefully failed us. At the time of oil boom coupled with astronomical increase in taxes, Ghana today experiences reverse development through gross leadership incompetence of the NDC/Mahama administration. NDC has “unprecedented achievements” of high cost of living, massive unemployment, massive corruption among government officials, poor educational and health systems and crimes across the country, yet it continues to use infantile propaganda and character denigration of NPP leadership to lie to the suffering masses of Ghana.

The country-wide strikes by medical personnel, trade unions and civil societies demanding economic and political accountability is a total reflection of the people’s lack of confidence in NDC’s ability to steer the country from the devastations it has unleashed on poor Ghanaians. The NPP calls on the people Ghana to stand up and to demand accountability in respect of the Vicki revelations on the complicity of the Mahama regime in manipulating the SC verdict as well as NDC unrestrained plundering of our economy.
