The Regional chapter of the New Patriotic Party[NPP] in the German State of North Rhein Westphalia[NRW] has over the weekend launched its campaign programme for the 2012 elections the first of which is scheduled to take place on Saturday 31 March in Dortmund.

The programme code-named “Recapture Power and Rebuild Ghana” is aimed at mobilizing the Ghanaian Diaspora in Germany to rally behind the NPP to ensure victory in the December 7 polls and help rebuild Ghana.

Mr Kwadwo Kagya-Agemang Regional chairman of the Party who made this known at a meeting with party supporters and sympathisers in Düsseldorf said the programme will be held in all major towns and cities in the state to enable the party explain its policies and programmes to Ghanaians Resident in Germany.

He noted that the 2012 elections will mark an important turning point in the nation’s history because it will determine whether the country can move towards the realization of its development goals or continue to retrogress under the failed and discredited government of the NDC.

He said for nearly four years, the Mills-Mahama has failed in all respects to meet the basic needs and expectations of Ghanaians adding that government incompetence and lack of proper policy direction has condemned Ghanaians to abject poverty and as such it does not deserve a second term but should be voted out.

Mr Kagya-Agyemang who returned from Ghana just a week ago told the gathering that the increase in food prices, utility bills and exhorbitant school fees has led to disillusionment and apprehension among all sections of the Ghanaian populace a situation which he maintains is unacceptable and needs to be changed.

On his part Mr Kwaku Anane-Gyinde, Director of Communications-NPP Germany expressed regret that the NDC has turned politics into a contest of insults rather than a contest of ideas adding that it has not only become fashionable but also profitable because such reprehensible conduct is always rewarded by the Mills-Mahama administration.

He assured Ghanaians that the NPP will focus on relevant and important issues that matter to the ordinary Ghanaian. These he said include job creation, free secondary education, provision of affordable housing , the modernization of the economy and empowering people to create and manage their own businesses saying ‘ the very people expressing scepticism are those who on their own have not achieved anything for themselves and as such do not believe in the abilities of the Ghanaian.’

According to him Nana Akuffo-Addo represents hope and a new vision for Ghana and has demonstrated this through his personal achievements as a distinguished Lawyer, a successful businessman, and exceptional diplomat, an honest politician and above all a responsible father who did not shirk his parental responsibilities.

Mr Anane-Gyinde stated that Nana Akuffo-Addo will bring back respect and restore dignity to the Presidency through leadership by example adding that the numerous massive corruption scandals in which President Mills has been an active participant and culpable accomplice will not be tolerated under Akuffo-Addo presidency.

On the recent media crack down in Ghana, Mr Anane-Gyinde accused the Mills-Mahama administration of human rights violations including press freedom saying that such repressive measures and dictatorial tendencies must be resisted and called on all government departments and agencies to disregard the gagging orders placed on multimedia group because they have no legal basis.
