NUGS-China Goes Online

Thu, 17 Mar 2011 Source: NUGS-China

The National Union of Ghana Students China branch – NUGS-China, in an attempt to reach out to all the Ghanaian students in China as well outside China has created a website for easy communication. Even though NUGS-China has been in existence since 1988, a lot of Ghanaians are not aware of its existence and what it has to offer due to the fact that China is a very large country.

The address of the website is www.nugschina.com. The website is in the form of a social network which allows members to create an account and link up with friends. Some of the social networks such as facebook and Hi 5 are blocked in China and therefore the National Officers see this as a way of friends within China linking up again by using the site just as facebook and Hi 5 are used. It also has a discussion platform for discussions which are of interest to Ghanaian students in China. This platform also helps members to discuss development issues related to our dear motherland Ghana. In addition, the website is to help Ghanaians outside China to contact any of the executives both the National and the local for any information they may want to inquire about.

The Union has the following core objectives;

I. Defend the rights of the members and awaken the spirit of solidarity among them.

II. Strengthen and reinforce the union amongst Ghanaian students.

III. Promote friendship between Ghanaian students and other students in China.

IV. Mobilize the intellectual resources of members in an effort to contribute positively to the socio-economic development of the motherland.

The Union is currently establishing local chapters at the city and provincial level to reach out to more Ghanaian students in China and also to help serve their interest. It is the hope of the National Executive that, this website will be useful and educative to all users.

Long Live NUGS – China

Long Live Ghana
