Nerebehi citizens resident in Europe contribute to education development

Nerebehi (Ash), June 19, GNA- Reverend Father Antwi Boasiako, Catholic priest of Toase parish and Nerebehi citizens resident in Europe have contributed 30 million cedis towards the construction of two extra classrooms to decongest the Nerebehi Catholic primary school. Rev Father Antwi Boasiako contributed 15 million cedis and Nerebehi citizens also contributed the same amount.

Mr A. Opoku-Awuah, chairman of Nerebehi School Management Committee (SMC) who announced this on Saturday said the Atwima district assembly has also completed the construction of a six-classroom block, an office and store under the Social Investment Fund (SIF) to replace the old building.


He was speaking at an education forum organised by the Atwima district education directorate at Nerebehi on Friday to identify the community's educational problems and find solutions to them.

Madam Janet Pinamang, headteacher of the local authority Junior Secondary School, noted that the standard of education in the area could be adequately improved if parents maintained discipline and supervised their children's studies at home instead of allowing them to engage in gambling, trading and sexual promiscuity.


Nana Baffour Gyan, Abusuapanin of Nerebehi community, who presided, asked the residents to take keen interest in the promotion and development of education in the area. 19 June 04
