The tears did not flow; noses did not run because there was no wailing by fellow Christians who congregated at various churches to mark the Easter Friday in Toronto-Canada.

Dirge were not played nor sung which accompanies wailings and wiping of tears in the eyes of fellow congregants as usually observed in Ghana on such occasion.

The noses were not running as usually seen on this day as members go through such situations to show sympathy for the crucifixion of Jesus Christ two thousand years ago. Instead of the wailings, singing of dirge that creates more mourning, great silence filled most of the Ghanaian Church auditoriums in Toronto, where the day was observed.

Hymnals canticles and praises sung created a few scenes where members showed a state of sadness but they were at short intervals.

Dressed in black, red and any other attire accepted in mourning the dead, Christians gathered in various church auditoriums to worship as part of activities to mark the death of Jesus Christ on the Good Friday April 6, 2012.

Various church auditoriums were filled to capacity as even occasion worshipers; throng the church to join permanent members in service by singing and taking the seven words on the cross as Jesus said before he gave up his ghost as written in the bible. Ghana Methodist Church and Calvary United Methodist Church of Ghana both in Toronto-Canada, held a joint service to mark the occasion as members of these two societies gathered at the main auditorium of the former at 19 Penn Drive on Finch and Milvan.

Summarizing the seven words Jesus said on the cross, Very Reverend De-Graft Semie Obiri, who is in charge of Calvary United Methodist Church of Ghana in Toronto, made it clear that his interest in serving the Ghana Methodist Church Mission in Canada is to strengthen the unity of members of the church and even those in the Ghanaian community.

Stressing on the theme,” Jesus our example of sorrow” Reverend Obiri, asked members to take Jesus’s example of atoning for sins of all mankind and emulate it by pleading for forgiveness as well as forgiving those who have sin against us. He charged all to strive to succeed in going to heaven after life on this earth which is the only reward awaiting every Christian. The minister of God urged members to take good care of their parents and God will bless them adding,” even if you do not have a parent, please adopt a parent, take good care of him or her and your blessings will be overflowing”.

Reverend Obiri, made it clear that whatever pains, struggles, sickness, poverty, stress, tension, whichever sufferings and challenges we are going through, the more we takes such pains and sufferings the more God reveals himself in our life and takes us out from such pains and sufferings therefore we need not to worry going through such pains.

He ended his sermon by reminding members that no matter how perpetrators and persecutors try’s to derailed them from their effort to get the blessings from God, they shall come to not therefore they should hold fast to Jesus Christ and they would be saved they and their entire family.
