The Newark Circuit of the North America Mission Diocese of the Methodist Church Ghana will host the Second Annual Diocesan Synod in Newark, New Jersey from Thursday, May 10 to Sunday, May 13, 2018.

The Synod gathering will be hosted by the Ghana Emmanuel Methodist Church, at 1177 Broad Street, Newark NJ 07114.

The theme for this Synod is, “Go and make Disciples of all nations, sustaining our gains through effective stewardship”.

The highlight of this year’s gathering is that the North America Mission Diocese, having so mightily grown in stature and effectively spread throughout North America, will be elevated from a Mission Diocese status to a full Diocese of the Methodist Church Ghana.

Sister Charlotte Amoateng of Ebenezer Methodist Church College Park Maryland noted with joy that since 2009 when the first AGM was held in Atlanta GA, The North America Methodist Churches has seen a lot of changes and now the Mission Diocese will be soon elevated to a full diocese of the Methodist Church Ghana.

The Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church Ghana, The Most Rev. Titus K. Awotwi Pratt, has arrived in the U.S. to chair this historic Synod, and to perform the diocesan elevation ceremony. Accompanying him are the Church’s Administrative Bishop, the Rt. Rev. Dr. Paul K. Boafo; and the Lay President, Mr. Bernard Botwe.

Over 600 delegates are expected from The Washington DC Circuit, the Newark NJ Circuit, the Toronto Circuit, the Atlanta Circuit, GA, as well as other Methodists in the U.S.

In addition, local members of all the Churches’ intergenerational organizations will be in attendance at this grand Christian gathering.

The host Superintendent Minister, Very Rev. Moses Antwi commenting on the Annual Synod stated that his Circuit has prepared for months praying and planning to host this auspicious occasion and with God’s help will do so successfully.

The Rev. Ministers, Church Officers and the general congregation of the hosts, the Newark, New Jersey Circuit, cordially invite all Methodists and Christians to this historic Synod.
