Okuapemman Association of USA and Canada (OKUSACA), the Umbrella Organization which unites all the established Okuapemman chapters in North America, wishes to bring to the attention of all chapters that, the annual Mid-year Delegates’ Conference will be held at Toronto, Canada, from May 18th-20th, 2012. The Lawmakers of this Organization from all the chapters of the Association will be arriving at Toronto, Canada, on Friday, May 18th, 2012 for this auspicious meeting. News reaching the national secretariat in New York indicates that the hosting chapter is profoundly excited and anxiously awaiting for the arrival of their counterparts from the US.
The Mid-year meeting of delegates and observers, which precedes the Annual Odwira/Ohum Cultural Festivities of the people of Akuapem/Asuogya descent in September, during the Labor Day Week-end, has a paramount objective of formulating, discussing and establishing policies for implementation by the supreme body of the National Council of the Association.
For the first time, OKUSACA Mid-year meeting is being held at Toronto, Canada and three newly formed chapters, namely Philadelphia and Delaware Valley; Virginia and Minnesota Chapters with their exuberant leaders, will be initiated in a very tantalizing and colorful ceremony on Saturday evening May 19th, 2012. The flamboyant Executives of the host chapter, Toronto, have done a wonderful job of securing a plush Social Hall at 5371 Longhorn Trail, Mississauga, Ontario L4Z 3G4 for this event. Hotel accommodation has also been arranged at a group rate of $89.00 per night as alternative to home accommodation for those delegates who prefer to lodge at a hotel. Dr. (Nana) La-Kumi Sasraku (Omanhene), a renowned Dentist domiciled at Toronto, is the Keynote Speaker. Among the stalwarts of the Organization that will be in attendance are Colonel (Rtd.) Prince Twumasi Ankrah(NY), a Veteran of United Nations Peace-keeping Force; Dr. Kwabena Apenteng Boateng(Trustee), an established Gynecologist in Chicago, Illinois; Mr. Ernest Attah Amoyaw, an Associate Professor, distinguished Librarian and President of New York chapter; Mr.Emmanuel Paa Kwasi Sam, a Hotel Tycoon and President of Chicago Chapter; Mr. Emmanuel Kwame Gyan, a Business Development Specialist and President of New Jersey Chapter; Mr. Ben Aye-Addo, an Educationist, Manager of Information Technology Systems and President of Atlanta Chapter; Mr. Joseph Obuobisa,a Retired Military Personnel and Veteran, President of Ohio Chapter; Mr. Oduro Asante, a genius Computer Software Analyst and Engineer, President of Dallas Chapter; Mr. Godwin Larbi, a Technocrat in Construction Business, who is also the National Coordinating Chairman as well as the President of Washington DC Chapter.
The National Congress will begin on Saturday morning from 10:00am to 2:00pm. After a break for lunch, the meeting will resume at 3:00pm till 7:00pm to deliberate on some pending key issues, such as holding talks to revamp the deplorable conditions existing at our noble Tetteh Quarshie Memorial Hospital (TQMH) situated in our jurisdiction in Ghana.
The Delegates will also plan and discuss this year’s Odwira/Ohum festival of Akuapemfo/Asuogyafo to be held in September, 2012 in the nation’s capital, Washington DC. Remarkably, the indomitable members of the Washington DC chapter have already started preparation to host this event .Negotiations are in progress to have a tour of the “White House” (official residence of President Barrack Obama) whiles in Washington DC.
When it’s all said and done on Saturday, the delegates will be entertained by the host chapter, first on Saturday night, with a Live Band at the meeting Hall and also on Sunday with a superb array of authentic and sumptuous home-made food and assorted drinks plus a bash of selected Ghanaian Music to round up a weekend of fun and pleasure before departure.
Founded in 1985, Okuapemman Association of USA and Canada (OKUSACA) has its main objectives as promoting unity among citizens of Akuapem, Akwamu and Anum-Boso Traditional areas; community service, education and embarking on new projects as well as supporting ongoing developments in these traditional areas. Undeniably, OKUSACA has lived up to its keen expectations by its fervent financial donations for the enhancement of health and education in our Traditional areas in Ghana. Even though we have shown many gestures and as a result have won many local and international accolades, we are determined not to bask on our past laurels but rather accomplish more for the people of Ghana during the coming years. Special thanks to the Coordinators at the National Secretariat and members of the untiring Board of Trustees for zealously coordinating these activities of the organization.
