The Malta-based Ghana Mission Foundation last year forwarded over Lm66,700 for the payment of bills in connection with works on a health centre in Ghana.

Half of the sum mentioned was paid by an anonymous donor.

The project, being carried out by the International Catholic Programme for Evangelisation, was chosen by Pope John Paul II to mark the Great Jubilee 2000.

Last year, the foundation collected Lm48,318 excluding Lm13,000 collected through telephone donations last May.

These funds were collected during various activities. The foundation spent Lm11,655 in the organisation of such events and in the running of its office at the Media Centre, in Blata l-Bajda.

The Ghana Mission Foundation is looking forward to finish works on the first phase of this project and to embark on the second phase consisting of the building of a sub-station to provide electricity to the health centre.

Donations towards the health centre are to be sent to the Ghana Mission Foundation c/o Media Centre, National Road, Blata l-Bajda, HMR 02. Donations may be deposited in these accounts: BOV 11206046019/ HSBC 033-143819-050.

The foundation's financial statement for 2004 will be available at its office at the Media Centre by the end of this month.
