Orangeburg, South Carolina, USA – The ultimate reward for an accomplished mission is a well-deserved recognition and honour in either a resolution or a proclamation or both.
This is exactly what the South Carolina House of Representatives and the City Council of Orangeburg have done in a resolution and a proclamation respectively recognizing and honouring Dr. Arthur Kobina Kennedy, who has resigned the post of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Family Health Centres Incorporated, to contest for the Flagbearership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Ghana.
Dr. Kennedy was honoured at a joint ceremony held at the South Carolina State University in Orangeburg. at the weekend.
The resolution passed by the State Parliament and signed by the Speaker, Robert W. Harrell, Jr. and the Clerk of the House, Charles F. Reid, commended Dr. Arthur Kennedy for the immeasurable contributions he has made to the Family Health Centres Inc. in his Orangeburg community and the State of South Carolina.
The Resolution was hopeful that Dr. Kennedy would continue to impact countless lives in the years to come.
By this Resolution, the members of the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina recognize and honour Dr. Arthur Kennedy of Orangeburg County for his outstanding contributions to the State of South Carolina as CEO of Family Health Centres Inc.
The Resolution was full of praise for Dr. Kennedy for initiating exceptional programming advances for Family Health Centres, including the creation of a new Pharmacy Assistance Programme to provide prescriptions to the underinsured and the institution of Americorps Student Programme.
As an active Community Leader, Dr. Kennedy was appointed to the Orangeburg County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors from 2003 to 2006 and also served on the advisory Committee of National Institute of Health Grants with Voorhees College and Clemson University.
The Resolution observed with admiration that during his tenure of office as CEO of Family Health Centres, Dr. Kennedy oversaw the construction of two new medical centers –St. George Medical Centre and St Matthews' Medical Centre.
The members of the House of Representatives wished Dr. Kennedy all the best in his future endeavours, the Resolution added.
The Proclamation by the City Council of Orangeburg, signed by the Mayor, Paul A. Miller, observed that Dr. Arthur Kennedy has become a strong and viable Presidential candidate, running on the ticket of NPP.
Dr. Kennedy is hoping to make a difference in his mission to serve the poor and under-privileged in his country Ghana, the Proclamation added.
The Proclamation recounted traumatic experiences Dr. Kennedy encountered while a student at the medical school of the University of Ghana, Legon. They included his dismissal from the Medical School, arrest and detention as President of the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) and his subsequent exile to pursue his academic goals in the United States of America.
