Presby church of Ghana inaugurates branch in Atlanta

Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Resurrection Congregation in Georgia USA was inaugurated August 4th 2013 as a church affiliated with Presbyterian Church of Ghana. The theme for the occasion was SET YOUR HEART ON THINGS ABOVE. This solemn but history making occasion was a week-long celebration that was launched on Sunday, July 28th, 2013. From Monday to Wednesday was prayer and fasting. On Thursday the Youth of the church lead by Prince Charles Asumadu and Celia Asinor Jnr. walked the congregation through a night of drama and gospel music.

Saturday August 3rd, was picnic day that saw fellow congregations from the Washington DC District at the Sweetwater State Park in Lithia Springs Georgia. Inaugural Ceremony

At exactly 9am all members, visiting congregants from the district, invited guest, and sympathizers of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana have gathered in our sanctuary in Austell, Georgia to worship and sing praises to the Lord most high. In his inaugural sermon, Rev. Kofi Karikari, the District Pastor thanked the almighty Lord for bringing us this far. He reminded members of the church of the difficult days ahead and encouraged us to always seek God’s guidance in all that we do as Christians.

He advised us to fight for Christ, and with Christ, to attract our fellow Ghanaian Presbyterians who live in Georgia, but may not know of our existence. ‘I know you have fought a good fight till now to keep out the works of the devil, look out for one another and always be thankful to the Lord in all things’ Reverend Karikari, said.

On his part Rev. H. E. Opong thanked the three families who took it upon themselves to form the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Resurrection Congregation in Georgia. In recognition of their good work as founders,Samuel Asinor, Millicent Tieku, Martin Odameh and John Buabeng, were awarded certificates of recognition signed by the moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (Rev. Prof. Martey)

The visiting Pastor, Rev H. A, Opong (the immediate past Clerk of the General Assembly, of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana) thanked the session members and the catechist Kwasi Agyemang for their good guidance and support. Rev. Opong also cautioned us to be mindful of ourselves and take advice from all but through prayers. The last section of the program was filled with praises as the Singing band led by Nana Afua Agyei and Mr Odameh Snr. treated us with the good old days Basel (Presbyterian) hymnal. Nana Boadu on drums, Osei Tutu on guitar, and Bemson on konka. The inaugural committee was led by our Sis Vida Acquah.

Please join us as we celebrate the good work of our Lord and sing Presbyterian hymnal 282 and 23 to thank these men and women of God and Pastors of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana for their good guidance and spiritual teachings which has brought us this far.
