Our attention has been drawn to a news item originally published by Ghanaians Lens and republished on the Ghanaweb website. The said news item alleges that Nana Akuffo Addo, the NPP Presidential candidate, is in the United Kingdom to ?undergo rehabilitation and detoxification so as to remove any traces of any residual chemical that could be said to be a by-product of illicit drug use.?
This allegation is facially absurd, false, defamatory, and, regrettably, is the latest in a series of fabrications by the P/NDC, using its twin mouthpiece of Lens and Palaver, aided by the ?anything goes? editorial policy of Ghanaweb.
Our friends in UK have issued a press release challenging the factual basis of the news items and drawn attention to its absurdity, illogicality, irrationality, and its falsity.
We in the NPP USA reiterate Nana Akuffo Addo?s call for a healthy debate, devoid of insults, innuendos, invectives and rumors, on the issues facing the country.
It is refreshing that Nana Addo has spelt out an Economic Empowerment policy which will serve as the economic driving force of his government, focusing on igniting the economic can-do spirit of the Ghanaian, improving the skills of the Ghanaian and opening up the country, from north to south, for greater economic opportunities. Nana has also laid out a bold vision that will transform the country from raw material exporting to raw material processing.
The good people of Ghana deserve to know how those who seek to serve them intend to address the problems of education, healthcare, corruption, and unemployment.
While Nana Addo and the NPP are proposing ideas on how to address these problems, it appears the P/NDC will do what it does best, which are fabrications and personal destruction. We remain confident that Ghanaians will continue to reject the politics of fabrications, distortions, and personal destruction which have become the bread and butter of the P/NDC.
