Richmond University, The American International University in London, at its 2013 Graduation last Thursday, May 16, 2013, awarded a Doctor of Public Administration Degree, Honoris Causa, to Professor Kwaku Danso-Boafo, Ghana’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland in recognition of his Teaching and public service.
Prof. Danso-Boafo already holds a Bachelor of Science, Master of Public Administration, and Doctor of Philosophy degrees. He had previously served as Ambassador to Cuba and later Minister for Health of Ghana.
In his response to the award and charge to the students, Prof. Danso-Boafo, urged the graduates of the University to help strengthen ties between the University and Universities in Ghana.
He told them that they would be making the world a better place for all when they seek ties with other universities whilst promoting peace and being each other’s keeper.
He emphasised that the only way they could be of benefit to society was to use the education they have acquired at the University to serve humankind and contribute to bridging the gap between the developed and developing countries. As a former University Lecturer who has taught at the University of Ghana, Ghana Armed Forces Staff College, Atlanta University, Clark Atlanta University, and Morehouse School of Medicine, he said Universities spend precious time modelling students to become decent citizens and asked the outgoing students to live decent and productive lives and take good care of their parents who made their university education possible.
