We Have Clear and Incontrovertible Evidence – Sir John.
The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party, Mr. Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie, popularly known as Sir John delivered a consistent message with passion to members of the NPP-USA and the Ghanaian community who trooped to listen to him in several US cities during his short visit.
After a well-delivered speech, usually interspersed with nuggets of traditional wisdom and doses of biblical quotations, Sir John will emphasize that the NPP has clear and incontrovertible evidence in the Supreme Court. He also made it clear that he has faith that the Supreme Court judges will deliver a verdict predicated on the evidence given and on justice that will bring peace and prosperity to Ghana.
Mr. Owusu Afriyie arrived in the USA on July 20, for a short private visit in Dallas Texas, but his love of party and country would not permit him coop up in seclusion and enjoy a well-deserved vacation. Mr. Owusu Afriyie generously offered to visit a few of the many NPP-USA chapters. Given the limited time of his stay, and the enthusiasm with which members of the branch welcomed him, Nana Agyei Yeboah, chairman of NPP-USA put together a hectic six cities tour for the General Secretary.
Sir John’s first stop from Dallas was Denver, Colorado where he mesmerized a church congregation with his sermon and thrilled the Ghanaian community with facts, and legal knowledge about NPP’s electoral petition before the Supreme Court. From Denver, he flew to Minneapolis, Minnesota. From Minnesota he flew to Atlanta, Georgia, from Atlanta to Charlotte, North Carolina. In all these stops, Mr. Owusu Afriyie succinctly explained the party’s case to the people and stressed that NPP has presented clear and incontrovertible evidence to the Supreme Court in Ghana.
On August 3, 2013, Sir John took his message of hope and good will to the North Eastern part of the USA. His first stop was in Hartford, Connecticut (The Constitution State). In Hartford, the General Secretary again affirmed his faith in the Supreme Court judges to uphold the supremacy of our constitution, and assured the Ghanaian community that NPP has clear and incontrovertible evidence.
As if he was saving the best for the last, Sir John stormed the Big Apple, New York City on August 6, 2013 with his consistently powerful message to his NPP faithful and the Ghanaian community – we have clear and incontrovertible evidence. The Ghanaian communities Sir John visited also gave him an unambiguous message to be given to our esteemed judges, that Ghana’s judiciary is also on trial and the whole world is watching. Whether our fledgling democracy will flourish and lead Ghana and Africa into prosperity or plunge our nation into chaos, entrench mediocrity and corruption, will depend on the courage of our judges to deliver a verdict based on evidence that will ensure peace and justice.
Evidently, Sir John’s short visit to the USA, whether planned or by accident has energized NPP-USA and educated the Ghanaian communities he visited. We wish him a safe flight back home.
