Supporting Ghanaian businesses in Diaspora

Ghanaians living in Ontario and elsewhere in the world have been called upon to patronize Ghanaian businesses and stores in Diaspora.

This clarion call was made by the President of the Ghanaian Canadian Association of Ontario (GCAO), Mr. Emmanuel Duodu at Brampton in Ontario during a tour of Afrocan Stores on April 13, 2019.

Mr. Duodu stressed the need for Ghanaians living abroad to support their own community businesses and stores to grow.

He said that the growth of our community businesses will reflect on the development of the Ghanaian communities in Diaspora.

The president cited the Chinese, Jewish, and Indian communities as supporting their own businesses and stores to be vibrant wherever they are, promoting their cultural heritage through their businesses and stores.

The tour was in response to an open house sales conducted by Mr. Mireku, the proprietor of Afro Caribbean Foods Stores in Brampton near Toronto that weekend. Prices of items at the Afrocan Stores in Brampton were reduced to fifty percent as promotional sales for the public.

Specialties in the stores include fresh yams and smoked fish (from Ghana) as well as exeter corned beef and beauty supply.

The Ghanaian business known as “Afro Caribbean Foods” now serves the public at three locations-Brampton, Toronto and Hamilton-all in Ontario.
