On its third year of making history, a group of Ghanaian-American professionals will join the Annual Ghana Parade and Festival on August 20th, 2011 at Croton Park, Bronx, NY.
The new decade will start with the year 2011 to mark the 54th Anniversary of Ghana's Independence Day celebration. It was in August 16, 2009 that the National Ghana Parade Council (NGCP) made its history of holding the first ever Ghana Parade, an event that promoted the rich Ghanaian culture among the residents of Bronx, New York
Community residents and continental Africans in the tri-state area joined in the jubilation, press coverage and political proclamations. This event will be highlighted by the African press that has helped to get this parade started in several other cities. NGCP will continue to make history every year with the Independence Day Parade and Festival. Ghanaian-American, with their passion and patriotism for their homeland, will gather in this yearly event to continue the foundation set by the Ghanaian people inside and outside the Diaspora. It is one way to express how proud they are of their origin and culture in the Bronx area in New York. Native and non-natives of Ghana are all invited to attend and are encourage to bring any paraphernalia that represents the Ghanaian culture. It can be a flag or an article of clothing. Your presence to show your pride will be highly appreciated to celebration of the Ghanaian culture in the American country.
The NGCP plans to continue and keep the momentum high by doing this historic event every year and this time with the Third Annual Ghana Parade that will take place on Saturday.
