The well-coordinated event showcased the unity and drive of Swesconians in the diaspora
The Swedru Secondary School (Swesco) Alumni UK Chapter brought together over 60 former students in East London for a memorable evening with the Global President of the Alumni, Samuel Attah-Mensah. The engagement session, held at the Mez Lounge, was marked by renewed enthusiasm, camaraderie, and a strong call to action for alumni worldwide.
The well-coordinated event, led by UK Chapter President Piesie Alberta Eyeson and her team of executives, showcased the unity and drive of Swesconians in the diaspora. Their leadership has been instrumental in mobilising support and strengthening the chapter’s contribution to global Swesco initiatives.
Attah-Mensah used the occasion to update members on projects aimed at improving infrastructure, raising academic standards, and creating opportunities for current students. He challenged alumni, especially those abroad, to channel their skills, resources, and networks towards building the Swesco of the future.
“Swesco’s greatness rests on our shoulders as alumni. Each of us has a role to play in building the school we dream of, and every contribution counts,” he said.
UK Chapter President, Piesie Alberta Eyeson, also praised the renewed momentum of her members and reminded them to stay engaged:
“We are glad about the renewed enthusiasm from the members of Swesco Alumni UK. Let’s carry this energy forward and get ready for the grand end-of-year Christmas get-together.”
The event was not only a reunion but also a reminder of the responsibility that comes with being an alumnus of one of Ghana’s great secondary schools. It also reflected a broader reality: Ghana’s development story cannot be left to those at home alone.
For Ghanaians in the diaspora, giving back to their alma mater is one of the most direct and impactful ways to contribute to national development. By supporting the schools that shaped us, we strengthen future generations and keep alive the spirit of excellence that Ghana’s educational institutions represent.
As Swesco alumni left Mez Lounge that night, the message was unmistakable: together, no matter where we are in the world, we can build the Swesco we dream of — and by extension, the Ghana we all want.
