Trinity Presbyterian church, (Ghana), has re-dedicated its newly acquired church building in London.
The re-dedication ceremony was performed by Reverend Dr. Yaw Frimpong-Manso, Moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana.
The building was purchased and rehabilitated at a cost of over ?800,000 raised by the congregation of the Trinity Presbyterian Church. Apart from providing a place of worship, the building also has a library, a nursery, facilities for conferences and an after-school club and other social facilities for the community in the London borough of Lewisham.
Dignitaries present at the special re-dedication service included, Mr. Isaac OSei, Ghana?s envoy to the UK, His Lordship Steve Bullock, Mayor of the London Borough of Lewisham, Very Reverend Dr. Sam Prempeh, District Minister of the Trinity Presbyterian Church, London and Rev. Dr. Charles Gyan-Duah, Clerk of the General Assembly, Presbyterian Church of Ghana.
Other dignitaries who attended the event were Rev. Nii Odonkor, the Ghanaian Chaplaincy in the UK, Mr. Agyeman-Duah, Minister-Counsellor (Information) of the Ghana High Commission in London, Rev Dr. Sam Ayele-Nyampong, a Minister of the Church, Dr. Emmanuel Akuffo, Senior Presbyter of the Church, representatives of Ghanaian Associations in the UK and friends of Ghana.
Presenting the sermon under the theme ?My House is a Home of Prayer?, Rev. Dr. Frimpong-Manso said the congregation have an obligation to maintain the beauty of the building as worthy stewards of the House of God.
The Moderator bemoaned the ?commercialisation of Christianity? characterised by the upsurge in the ?pray for me syndrome? and called on the clergy to show more commitment to the spiritual upliftment of their congregation.
He described the numerous natural disasters which have plagued the world in recent times as a wake-up call for Christians to devote more time to prayer stressing that spiritual revival could only be invoked through the prayers of Christians who stand together.
On his part, the High Commissioner congratulated the congregation especially the leadership of the church for the purchase of the building and noted that Ghanaians in the UK were graduating from employees engaged in menial jobs to employers.
Mr. Osei urged all Ghanaians to use the abundant blessings God had bestowed on them for the development of their communities and the nation as a whole.
?As tenants on this earth, we must all endeavour to make the best use of our time and abilities because we will account for it one day? added the High Commissioner.
Major Bullock said the Borough of Lewisham welcomes people from diverse backgrounds and lauded the positive contributions faith communities were making towards the development of the Borough.
The highlight of the occasion was the presentation of gifts to Dr. Emmanuel Akuffo and his wife by various groups in the church in recognition of their outstanding contribution to the acquisition of the Church building.
