UK police probes death of pregnant Brit in Ghana

The UK police has begun investigations into the death of a pregnant British woman whose decomposing body was found in a bath in Ghana after murder charges were dropped against her pastor husband in the West African country.

Eric Adusah, the UK-based pastor, who was accused of murdering his British wife, was discharged by a District Magistrate Court in Accra late October.

The court presided over by Judge Mavis Ekua Enyamah Kwainoe discharged the accused after state prosecutors served notice they were no longer interested in the case.

Adusah was charged with the murder of Charmain Speirs in Ghana, but the case collapsed after the autopsy report allegedly went missing.

The Essex Police who have in their custody the body of Speirs have carried out their own post-mortem examination, according to the Daily Mail.

Family members said the decision to start an investigation in the UK was taken after the murder case against Adusah, who is a pastor with the Global Light Revival Ministries, in London, collapsed.

According to the Daily Mail, Speirs’ mother Linda Speirs, who has never seen the full autopsy report from Ghana, hopes to finally learn more about the circumstances behind her daughter's death.

“I'm very glad that her body is back in Britain. I even had my doubts that would happen. The results of this new autopsy won't be known for a while and I still have no idea when I'll be able to bury her,” she said.

“It's been a long, long wait for us to be able to bury Charmain but at least this delay is for a good purpose.”
